About This Item

Pounded Kalo: A Traditional Hawaiian Staple, Now in a Pouch. This mild, pale-purple food is made from mashed kalo, the root vegetable also called taro. Also known as poi, it's gentle on a baby's stomach and naturally high in fiber, containing more than a potato does. It also provides iron and calcium to support strong bones and teeth. On the matter of flavor: our version is slightly more tangy than traditional poi, since we include a bit of lemon juice concentrate, giving it a brighter, sharper taste that many babies enjoy. Our poi comes from Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi, a community group working to restore the loʻi kalo (taro terraces) of Heʻeia, Oʻahu. Each pouch purchased helps support their mission of reviving Native Hawaiian farming practices and the lands that have sustained the islands for generations.

Banana: Sweet Retreat. These tasty fruits are packed with nutrients that give little ones energy while supporting a healthy heart, nervous system, and skin. Our bananas come from local Hawaiʻi farmers, including Hawaiʻi Banana Source, run by a world-renowned banana expert and known for growing some of the islands' finest bananas. Hawaiʻi Banana Source cultivates more than 150 types of bananas, both common and rare, and even develops new varieties of their own. Popular types include Apple, Namwah, Gros Michel, and Ice Cream. Several are traditional Native Hawaiian canoe crops, such as Iholena, Pōpōʻulu, and Maoli, while others originate from various places around the world.

Mango: Non-stop Tasty. Give your little one the taste of mango season no matter the time of year with this smooth puree. This abundant, sweet, and juicy fruit is rich in vitamin C, making it a great energy source for a growing, active baby. Mango also supports healthy digestion, eye health, and a strong immune system.

Okinawan Sweet Potato: Vivaciously Violet. Could this vibrant purple sweet potato be part of the reason people in Okinawa tend to live so long? Perhaps! What's certain is that it's hearty, nutritious, and delicious. The Okinawan Sweet Potato offers everything needed to fuel a baby's growing brain and body.
