About This Item

A tasty and wholesome way to prepare spinach, or really any leafy green. This dish is gently spiced, which might come as a surprise if you're accustomed to the bolder flavors typical of Indian cuisine. Combining spinach or other greens with lentils and spices, then mixing it with rice, gives you a balanced, satisfying plant-based (PB) meal. You can round it out with Poriyal as a side dish (spice kit sold separately). It also works well served in place of creamed spinach, offering a much healthier take on a familiar side for any meal. This recipe became such a hit with my father that my daughter soon fell in love with it too - which is why we named it Grandpa's Favorite Spinach Masiyal.

Serves 4-6
