Our recipe layers warm, aromatic spices like cardamom pods, cumin seeds, and a cinnamon stick, creating a flavor profile that’s both complex and comforting. You’ll taste gentle sweetness alongside earthy depth, all balanced in a way that feels like a hug in a bowl. In Indian homes, moong dal is a weeknight staple, loved for its versatility and easy digestibility. With Mouma’s, you can bring that tradition to your own kitchen in about 30 minutes. Whether you’re serving it with rice, pairing it with fresh flatbread, or enjoying it on its own, this dal is the kind of simple, satisfying meal you’ll want to make again and again. In a large pot, heat 2 tbsp oil, then add ¾ cup diced tomatoes and spice blend. Sauté over medium heat until soft (2-3 min). Add in lentils to toast until golden, stir frequently (1-2 min). Stir in 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally (30–35 min).
