After a conversation with a nurse from a science project in Sweden - U-Screen. I had a mission to lower LDL in four weeks and the ApoB quota. The nurse didn’t think it could be done without medication. Enter the book and four weeks of dedikation to plantbased eating. Different ”bloodfats” was reduced by 30% and I missed the target by 0,01 points. I call that a win. I don’t know if it was the pointers in the book or the whole of plantbased eating. Regardless, something worked and I’m thankful for the knowledge in the book. It sure boosted my journey. Thank you!
I have all of Dr. Greger’s books and find them incredibly insightful and helpful. His latest one on lowering LDL levels is no exception.
I used to take statins, and although they improved my cholesterol numbers, the side effects were debilitating. I eventually stopped and shifted my focus to dietary and lifestyle changes. Even after eight years on a whole-food, plant-based diet, I seem to be one of those lucky people whose body loves holding onto cholesterol. I’m in that “in-between” group where statins may be recommended, so I’m really hoping the Portfolio Plus powder will make enough of a difference that I won’t need to revisit medication.
If you’re like me and struggle with the slimy texture psyllium forms when mixed with water, here’s what has helped tremendously: put the recommended dose of powder into a small glass with about half a cup of water, give it a quick swirl, and drink it immediately before each meal. Drinking it right away prevents the gel-like texture from forming. The taste is mild, and taken this way, there’s absolutely no sliminess.
Great lecture, but rather short. It’s packed with knowledge and tips on how to lower bad cholesterol, but for someone who’s already read previous books of dr. Greger, it does not seem to bring much new facts.
Great short book, but the Audible version is supposed to have accompanying PDFs but IT DOES NOT. This must be an error because as he narrates, he mentions the pdfs. They aren't thwrw for download on Audible, so I ended up having to buy the paper copy. A mistake that needs to be corrected, and it seems there is no way to contact anyone to let them know.
