WIth the same materials as my nomad backpack, this is a good looking compression bag. However I'm more impressed by the backpack at the moment.
Pros.
-Fits perfectly into the nomad.
-One mesh pocket under the lid
-4 compression straps around the bag. And Two zippers where one is compressing.
-Collects clothes and makes it easy to move clothes out and into the backpack as a unity during trips.
-Give some sort of compression.
Cons.
-I'm not that impressed about the compression part. Or maybe I'm using it wrong. I stuffed the bag for a weekend conference and put the bag in the backpack. Then I tried to put the same garnments in the backpack without the bag and that took less space.
- The compression bag fills the main compartment of the nomad completly (without the top rolled up). Could be good to know, makes the bag more motivated for longer trips I guess.
-I miss some extra pocket and a hook to hang the bag while its opened.
In verdict, this is a nice bag that makes it easier to part your clothings from the rest of your package
Doubles as laptop bag
In my opinion, while the compression bag is VERY handy, it's still quite overpriced for what it is.
I tested and can confirm I *can* fit more clothes folded into my backpack with this than I can by tightly rolling everything and stowing it. I maybe could do a combination just to use up all the available space, but it's nice to not have to unroll what you want to wear the night before so the inner roll can decompress.
The fact you can tighten down the 4 straps and compress your stack of clothes and have it end up manageable is handy, and when combined with the way the backpack opens and the handle on the compression bag, it makes so much of customs a breeze.
It would be nice if the zipper to open it were accessable without unfastening the straps first, but I imagine that would put a LOT of strain on the zipper teeth. And the straps have quick release latches so it's really not difficult, probably more a matter of getting used to it.
At first I was thinking this accessory would maybe be worth $25, but having written this and thought it through, $30 would be a fairly decent deal. At $39 it feels overpriced for what it is, but it's useful enough that I would probably buy it again. But not nearly as impressed for the money as I am with the Nomad backpack <3
