Heray Spice is a Chicago-based saffron and single origin spice company founded by Mohammad Salehi, a former U.S. Army linguist from Afghanistan. After serving alongside American forces, Mohammad built Heray Spice to connect Afghan farmers directly with kitchens across the United States — sharing the finest saffron and spices while empowering rural communities.

At Heray, every jar tells a story of quality, authenticity, and purpose. Our saffron is hand-harvested in the Herat region of Afghanistan, known for producing some of the most aromatic and potent saffron in the world. We work directly with small family farms, ensuring fair wages, sustainable farming practices, and complete traceability.

Today, Heray Spice is recognized for its Non-GMO Project Verified, Kosher certified, and Halal Certified, products, trusted by chefs, retailers, and home cooks nationwide. Each purchase helps preserve Afghan heritage while supporting a brighter, more independent future for local farmers.
