About This Item

This 5 lb bag of Shreds of Grace comes sealed in a 5mil mylar bag to support long-term food storage. It's packed inside a black 5-gallon bucket along with two 1500cc oxygen absorbers for freshness. The product itself is a soy protein concentrate (SPC) that's been dehydrated - after a quick rehydration using water, broth, or stock, the 5 lbs expands into roughly 25 lbs of usable protein. You have the option to leave it sealed in its original packaging for storage, or open it up and portion it into smaller containers suited to your own food prep needs. When cooked together with rice in the same pot, it creates a simple, protein-rich super rice, and compared to dry beans, it cuts down on both water usage and cooking time. It's well suited for repackaging and taking along on backpacking trips, camping outings, or including in emergency supplies for natural disasters and other preparedness needs. Shelf life has been tested at 5 years - since the product has only been in production for 6 years, that's the maximum length of time it's been able to be tested so far. That said, with proper long-term storage methods, we expect it to hold up on shelves comparably to rice and beans.
