About This Item

This 5 lb supply of Bits of Grace comes sealed in a 5mil mylar bag for long-term food storage, packed inside a black 5-gallon bucket along with two 1500cc oxygen absorbers. The product itself is a dehydrated soy protein concentrate (SPC); once quickly rehydrated using water, broth, or stock, the 5 lbs expands to roughly 25 lbs worth of protein. You have the option to leave it sealed in its original packaging for your food storage needs, or open it up and divide it into smaller containers for your own preps. When cooked together with rice in the same pot, it creates a simple, protein-rich super rice, and compared to dry beans, it cuts down on both water usage and cooking time. It's well suited for repackaging and taking along on backpacking trips, camping outings, or for use in natural disaster and emergency preparedness situations. Shelf life has been tested at 5 years; however, since the product has only been in production for 6 years total, 5 years is the longest period it's been able to be tested for so far. That said, when stored properly using long-term storage methods, we expect it to hold up on the shelf just as well as rice and beans do.
