It started with a mom and her two kids in the kitchen

My kids and I have been cooking together since before they could read. My daughter especially loves to make "potions" out of whatever random ingredients she can find in the kitchen. And my son is meticulous with measurement - a baker's dream come true. They learned that each item in our pantry had qualities that when brought together in different combinations could create new recipes. And because it was from scratch, we always knew exactly what we were eating.

We decided to carry that idea forward for our family "spa days" after becoming increasingly frustrated by not knowing what was safe in some of the face masks available in stores. We wanted to be able to pronounce the ingredients. And as an epidemiologist, I was very concerned about the long-term consequences of different ingredients for young developing bodies. With growing commercial pressures for kids to start skin care early, we thought our shelf-stable, one-ingredient products could be useful for other families as well.
